AccountantThe Accountant will have an excellent knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and concepts, including financial reporting. They will demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit while interacting with staff and congregants. They will have a teachable spirit and protect the confidential financial integrity of the Church. He or she will seek to perform all duties as unto the Lord, relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance, and completing all tasks with excellence.Performance Dimensions and TasksRecord entries to proper accountsReview accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differencesPrepare adjusting journal entriesSupport the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activitiesPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reportsProvide recommendations regarding daily operating procedures to identify improvements in workflow and/or reporting proceduresEnsure compliance with all current accounting principlesSupport the development and analysis of budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted cost to actual costSupport the preparation, examination, and analysis of accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standardsAssist in developing new or updating existing accounting policies and related procedures to ensure current with current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Analyze business operations, trends, cost, revenue, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenue and expenses and assist in business operational decision makingDevelop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technologyAdvise management about issues such as resource utilization and/or the assumptions underlying budget forecastsAppraise, evaluate, and inventory real property and equipment, recording information such as the description, value, and location of propertySurvey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problemsResolve congregant questions pertaining to contributionsEnsure daily operations and monthly reporting comply with U.S. GAAPSupport auditor requestJob SpecificationsAge: Minimum age of 18 required; Minimum age of 21 preferred.Education: Bachelor of science in Accounting required; CPA preferredExperience: 3–5 years of experience in an Accounting role requiredKnowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Suite; Knowledge of QuickBooks Online; Knowledge of SAP Concur systemsSkills/Abilities : Interpersonal; Communication; Problem-solving abilities; Detail-oriented; OrganizedOther Characteristics: Patient; Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job; Teachable spirit; Completes tasks in a timely mannerJob Context: Seated desk workJob Status: Full-time, Exempt
