Position Summary Responsible for enrolling and completing the Level 1 Paragon training program and providing grooming and bathing services for dogs and cats in a retail pet care environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%) Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, nights, weekends and overtime. Support selling initiatives through teamwork. Learn and perform grooming tasks, including safe pet handling, bathing, drying, brushing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, hair trimming, clipper and finishing techniques, customer service, and professional conduct. Practice safety and sanitization protocols, maintain tools and equipment, and document all work. Assist in generating business by calling customers, scheduling appointments, follow‑up calls, and verifying vaccinations. Record services and vaccination data, operate computers as needed, and possibly assist in store recovery. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Comfortable working with dogs and cats; demonstrates patience and compassion. Must provide own grooming tools or be willing to purchase required tools. High school diploma or equivalent; may be supplemented by relevant experience. Able to read, write, and count accurately. Preferred Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Operate all grooming tools and equipment. Effective communication with associates and customers. Attention to detail and basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution. Working Conditions Indoor environment with moderate noise; exposure to sharp instruments, perfumes, shampoos, pets, and waste. Wet conditions during bathing. Varying shift length, generally at least 4 hours and may exceed 8. Safety training and guidelines are mandatory. Physical Requirements Lift and transfer animals, equipment, and merchandise up to 50 pounds. Stand and groom animals for up to 8 hours. Move frequently around the salon to groom, clean, and maintain equipment. Use grooming instruments, occasionally lift or reach overhead. Bend, kneel, squat, and operate store equipment.
