Job Description
LDRP Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced LDRP Registered Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care in a Labor and Delivery setting. The ideal candidate will possess critical thinking skills, the ability to read and interpret fetal monitoring strips, and experience in couplet care.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and assess patients in labor, postpartum care, and neonates.
Read and interpret fetal strips; adjust care as necessary.
Titrate medications such as pitocin, insulin, and magnesium as required.
Ensure compliance with quality metrics and AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios.
Participate in patient education and support during labor and delivery.
Assist with the preparation and care of patients undergoing C-sections.
Float to other departments, including Medsurg and ER, as needed within the skillset.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Qualifications

BLS Certification required; ACLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in L&D or related fields.
Experience reading and interpreting fetal strips is essential.
Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and adaptability skills.

Unit Information

Total L&D Beds: 15 (7 L&D, 8 Postpartum)
Number of Births: Approximately 58 per month
Charge Nurse available on each shift; takes patient assignment.
Support staff including CNAs for assisting with patient care and administrative tasks.
No anesthesia or OB/neonatologist on-site 24/7; coordination required for care decisions.

Scheduling and Requirements

Shift Length: 12 hours.
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week.
Every third weekend and every other holiday required.
No self-scheduling; block scheduling options available.
Participants must be open to floating to other units as necessary.

Additional Information

Successful candidates will demonstrate adaptability to change and effective critical thinking skills. Orientation consists of 3 shifts to ensure proper acclimation to unit protocols and practices.
