Summary of Position The Senior Accounting Manager serves as the senior accounting leader for the tag business unit and is responsible for the accuracy, integrity and timely completion of the company’s accounting and financial reporting. This position reports directly to the company President, works closely with the C&F Enterprises Vice President of Finance and directly supervises one Accounts Payable employee and two Accounts Receivable employees. Responsibilities include financial statement preparation, month-end and year-end close, cash-flow forecasting, budget preparation, variance analysis, inventory accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and the maintenance of effective accounting controls. The Senior Accounting Manager will assign work across the accounting team, establish priorities and hold the team accountable for timely and accurate results. Achieves accounting operational objectives by ensuring compliance with regulations while verifying the integrity and accuracy of timely financial data. Contributes financial information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews. Embrace AI & Technology — Use ERP capabilities, automation, AI and other tools appropriately to improve productivity, analysis, controls and reporting. Operate with Urgency — Manage competing priorities and deadlines with an appropriate sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy and sound judgment. Detailed Responsibilities Manage the day-to-day general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, general ledger entries, bank reconciliations and credit-card expense reconciliations Manage daily cash reconciliation, transaction reporting and cash-flow forecasting, including international wires, ACH payments, cash receipts, line-of-credit activity and working-capital performance Lead the monthly and year-end close processes and ensure the timely preparation of accurate financial statements, account reconciliations and supporting work papers Coordinate and prepare annual budgets, periodic forecasts and budget-to-actual analysis Establish, document and maintain effective internal accounting controls and ensure consistent compliance with accounting policies Prepare and review the trial balance and related financial reports Coordinate monthly reporting and accounting matters with the parent company, overseas offices and other divisions Prepare and reconcile schedules for prepaid assets and accrued liabilities, intercompany expenses and billings Manage inventory accounting, including valuation and reconciliation Oversee the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, including credit and collections Prepare and reconcile sales-agent data and commission calculations for payment and reporting Prepare and file required state and local tax returns and reports, including sales and use tax, Chicago Use Tax and annual Form 1099 filings Partner with the President to prepare financial analysis and reporting that support the company’s strategy and operating objectives Coordinate the preparation of information and work papers required for corporate tax returns and external financial statement reviews Evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements that strengthen controls, improve efficiency and support the organization’s goals Support ERP implementation, data validation and the improvement of financial workflows and reporting Lead, develop and evaluate the accounting team by establishing priorities, assigning responsibilities and holding team members accountable for results Maintain accounting records and ensure compliance with document-retention requirements Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Accounting degree preferred CPA or CMA preferred Minimum seven years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity Experience in a sales-driven manufacturing, importing, wholesale or consumer-goods distribution organization preferred Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting and internal accounting controls Specific Skill Requirements Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Word, PowerPoint and Outlook Experience with ERP systems, financial databases and system implementations Ability to extract, reconcile and analyze data from multiple systems and present it in a useful format Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills Strong prioritization and time-management skills, with the initiative to deliver results and communicate risks early Highly motivated, with the ability to work independently, manage concurrent demands and complete multifaceted projects Demonstrated ability to supervise, develop and lead accounting professionals Physical Requirements: Position requires occassional standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and movement. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 lbs. Prolonged use of computer involved; use of hands and finger coordination; specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision.
