This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the manufacturing function. This position will report to the Production Manager.The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:Provide technical support for manufacturing personnel for process troubleshooting, safety, and quality at a 24/7 GMP batch facility producing APIs and intermediates, personal care products, and specialty chemicalsWork collaboratively with site and corporate R&D staff to scale new chemistries from lab scale to plant scaleSupport site engineering in the design and implementation of capital projects and support new equipment coming on-lineCollect and analyze data from processes to help make decisions regarding batch quality and yield.Work cross-functionally with site quality, maintenance, and materials departments to meet strategic production goals in a safe and timely mannerSupport Process Safety Management efforts by participating in Process Hazard Analyses, submitting Management of Change requests, updating and improving operating procedures, and recommending and implementing process changes when appropriateSupport Production Manager and staff with ongoing continuous improvement effortsEstimated travel of 10% to support site projects and gain on-the-job training as necessaryIn order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering1-5 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing settingA strong technical background in organic chemistry and unit operationsThe following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:Previous experience working in a GMP and/or PSM facilitySix Sigma yellow or green belt certification with experience in experimental design and analysisThird party recruiters and agencies (“Agency”) should not contact employees of Ashland or its subsidiaries directly.
