Afternoon Program Assistant

Job Description

About This Role

We are looking for a compassionate, respectful, and loving person to support our late afternoon program with 3-6 year olds in the 2025-2026 school year. The hours for this position must include 2:30-5:30pm daily, but there are also options to add hours as a substitute.

The afternoon assistant is integral to helping create the right environment and care for children who stay for an extended day. An ideal candidate would have classroom or afterschool program experience and the willingness to learn adopt Montessori practices.

What You'll Do

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Supporting Montessori philosophy and children's social-emotional development
Maintenance of classroom and outdoor environments
Ensuring all licensing standards are met
On-time arrival and mindfulness of absences to minimize their effect on the children

Requirements

The ability to be reliable, consistent, and flexible; a love and understanding of children; a high school diploma (early childhood certification or equivalent preferred) and experience working with young children in a leadership role, and the ability to spend time on the floor/get down to children's level.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in Montessori settings is preferred.
