Surgical Technologist

Role Overview The Surgical Technologist Non-Certified assists in surgical procedures under the supervision of a registered nurse, ensuring a safe, patient-centered environment. They prepare the operative suite, set up sterile fields, pass instruments, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team, especially for moderate to high acuity cases. Responsibilities include maintaining aseptic techniques, troubleshooting equipment, managing supplies, and supporting performance improvement initiatives. They also aid in room turnover, patient transport, and ensuring compliance with safety and accreditation standards. Key Duties Prepare and organize surgical instruments and supplies based on procedure requirements. Assist in sterile setup, draping, and instrument passing during surgeries. Maintain sterile technique and monitor patient safety throughout procedures. Participate in post-operative activities, including specimen handling and instrument sterilization. Support inventory management and ensure compliance with safety standards. Provide patient-centered care tailored to cultural and developmental needs. Contribute to team collaboration, performance improvement, and training of new staff or students. Qualifications & Skills High School Diploma or GED; completion of accredited surgical technology program or LPN required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications preferred. Experience in operating rooms and knowledge of surgical procedures preferred. Strong communication, multitasking, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. Ability to work effectively in stressful and emergency situations, with attention to detail. Additional Requirements Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Basic computer proficiency in Word and Excel.
