Engineering Manager – AI

Location: New York City – Hybrid

Salary: Up to $250K base + bonus + equity

We’re partnering with a high-growth technology company looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and scale an AI engineering team .

\n

This is a technical leadership role combining people management, architecture and hands-on technical oversight. You’ll lead a team responsible for building and delivering production-grade AI products, while helping shape the technical direction of the wider engineering function.

What you'll be doing

\n

\n
• Lead, mentor and grow a team of AI-focused software engineers
\n
• Own engineering execution and delivery across key AI initiatives
\n
• Define technical architecture and engineering direction
\n
• Build and scale production-grade AI services and applications
\n
• Lead the implementation of LLMs, RAG, AI agents and orchestration frameworks
\n
• Partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science, Security and wider business teams
\n
• Establish and maintain strong engineering practices across testing, code quality and CI/CD
\n
• Remain technically engaged through architecture reviews, design discussions and mentoring
\n
• Recruit, coach and develop engineering talent
\n
• Balance immediate product delivery with longer-term architecture and scalability
\n

\n

What we're looking for

\n

\n
• 8+ years of software engineering experience
\n
• 3+ years leading engineering teams
\n
• Experience leading AI/ML engineering teams
\n
• Strong experience delivering production software systems at scale
\n
• Strong Python development experience
\n
• Deep knowledge of LLMs, RAG, AI agents and orchestration frameworks
\n
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph or similar
\n
• Experience with AWS, Docker, CI/CD, PostgreSQL and distributed systems
\n
• Strong software engineering and architecture fundamentals
\n
• Track record of recruiting, mentoring and developing engineers
\n
• Strong cross-functional communication skills
\n
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field
\n
