Description

1. POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting Specialist aids with collections, tax preparations, and backup to other functions in the department.

2. POSITION EXPECTATIONS

• Performs daily collections functions, including maintaining accurate accounts of unpaid invoices and current balances due.
• Contacts clients regarding collections concerns in a professional and helpful manner.
• Reviews weekly aging report and determines collectability of accounts; facilitates communication with collections companies as applicable
• Identifies problematic accounts and takes initiative to collect payment quickly
• Effectively communicates collections status with Accounting management
• Prepares monthly sales tax submissions and account reconciliations
• Provides backup to the department for other accounting functions as needed, including posting cash receipts, preparing invoices, and managing and correctly paying AP accounts
• Monitors Accounting emails and phones and responds to inquiries in a timely manner
• Processes collections and adjustments with an understanding of GL accounting and attention to detail
• Manages and uploads statements to customer platforms
• Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies, procedures, and regulations
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Education, Certifications and /or Licenses:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate's degree in Accounting or related field preferred

Experience:

• 1 year's experience in accounts receivable or collections preferred

Knowledge/Skills:

• Proficiency with PCs and basic computer software, including MS Office Suite
• Proficiency with basic business math skills
• Excellent presentation, listening, verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team; willingness to roll up sleeves and help the team
• Ability to manage and organize time to meet objectives and deadlines

While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be required to do the following:

• Perform activities such as balance, bend/stoop, crouch, kneel, push/pull, reach, or squat

6. WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

This position primarily works in an indoor office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

7. COMPENSATION

• Wage range: $20.00 22.00 per hour, paid on a biweekly basis
