Active - Regular full-time Service Aurora - All Locations, Aurora, CO, US 5 days ago Requisition ID: 1821 Salary Range: $22.45 To $24.00 Hourly Your Role in Our Mission The Kitchen Repack Specialist supports Food Bank of the Rockies’ Culinary Kitchen and Food for Kids Team by coordinating volunteer activities, supporting daily meal production and repack workflows, maintaining accurate production and program records, and upholding high standards of cleanliness, organization, sanitation, and food safety. The Kitchen Repack Specialist plays a key role in creating a positive and productive volunteer environment while supporting the organization’s mission to eliminate hunger through an efficient and effective food distribution network. Food Bank of the Rockies is a sponsor for the USDA Child and Adult Food Program and Summer Food Service Program and follows associated nutrition standards and regulations. Food Bank of the Rockies provides fresh and frozen unitized meals to partners, including Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCAs, and afterschool programs, and also provides community meals to partner organizations. The organization’s goal is to continue growing fresh and frozen unitized meal production. What You’ll Do Volunteer Oversight and Daily Production Train, supervise, and support volunteers in daily kitchen and repack activities. Provide clear direction, assign tasks, and coordinate workflow throughout each shift to support efficient volunteer engagement, meal production, repack activities, and daily kitchen operations. Organize, stage, and monitor food products, packaging materials, labels, and supplies needed for daily repack and meal production activities. Assist with fresh and frozen unitized meal production, packaging, labeling, staging, and related repack activities to support Food for Kids, community meal partners, and other culinary kitchen programs. Ensure volunteers follow sanitation standards, food safety practices, product handling procedures, and proper food storage guidelines. Foster a positive, respectful, and organized environment for all volunteers in alignment with Food Bank of the Rockies’ mission and values. Communicate effectively with other team members and volunteers to support smooth daily operations. Record Keeping Maintain accurate and up-to-date production and work records. Track daily outputs, volunteer participation, and operational data as required. Ensure documentation is complete, organized, and submitted in a timely manner. Maintain all required records in accordance with food safety, program guidelines, and requirements. Cleaning and Sanitation Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, and completing other cleaning tasks as needed. Ensure all food and related items are stored properly. Comply with all nutrition, sanitation, and food safety guidelines. Routinely inspect work areas and equipment for cleanliness and readiness. Administration Assist with estimating materials and labor needs for daily operations, and coordinate with the Volunteer Relations team to plan for volunteer support, accommodate volunteer needs, and maintain efficient production flow. Inspect facilities and equipment for safety and compliance. Perform other duties as assigned and/or delegated. What We’re Looking For Ability to lead and direct groups of volunteers in a structured and supportive manner. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and record-keeping skills. Basic mathematical skills for tracking and documentation purposes. Knowledge of or ability to learn sanitation, food safety, nutrition, product handling, and USDA food program documentation requirements. Manual dexterity to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools. Tactful and diplomatic approach when working with diverse groups of people. Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Regularly work in a commercial kitchen environment with frequent exposure to high-temperature cooking equipment, high noise levels, and freezer/refrigeration (-10 degrees to 40 degrees). Occasional work outdoors in varying weather conditions Frequently stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, and carry heavy items for extended periods (typically 6-8 hours). Use of office equipment such as a computer, mouse, keyboard, and printer. Frequent use of kitchen equipment, utensils, and cleaning tools. Frequently lift and/or move supplies, equipment, and food products up to 50 pounds. Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, non-exempt role working approximately 40 hours per week. Work schedules may vary and may include weekdays, early mornings, evenings, and occasional Saturdays.
