Job DescriptionThe RoleGM Human Interface Design – Vehicle Studio is hiring an experienced Designer to help shape the future of in-vehicle digital experiences. In this role, you will collaborate with partners across design, software, engineering, and product to deliver intuitive, accessible, and visually compelling system-level software experiences across GM’s vehicle portfolio. You will contribute to cohesive, brand-aligned digital products that balance creativity, usability, and technical excellence, playing a key role in defining how customers interact with GM vehicles and digital ecosystems.As a senior individual contributor on the Connected Apps Design team, you will lead the design of complex, end-to-end experiences that span both the vehicle and GM’s mobile touchpoints. The team is responsible for core customer experiences across charging, media, audio, passenger entertainment, and phone-based productivity for the full GM portfolio. While you may not own mobile design delivery directly, you are expected to bring a strong cross-channel perspective and proactively guide design decisions to ensure cohesive, well-considered experiences across platforms.In this role, you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, translating ambiguous problem spaces into clear interaction models, scalable UI solutions, and well-rationalized contributions to our design systems. You will partner closely with product, engineering, and research to shape product direction, validate design decisions, and drive design excellence through strong craft, clear rationale, and iterative delivery.If you are passionate about designing digital products that elevate everyday experiences, we would love to hear from you.What You’ll DoCollaborate with designers and cross functional partners to deliver a premier user experience across GM products and platformsBalance user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives to solve complex design problemsDevelop production ready interaction designs aligned with established design systems and guidelinesCreate design deliverables including sketches, wireframes, mockups, animations, and prototypes to clearly communicate design intentRelease production specifications and assets to software engineering teamsPresent design work to peers, partners, and leadershipPartner closely with product teams and engineers to ensure user interface designs are executed seamlessly as part of the overall experienceParticipate in design critiques and contribute to informed design decisionsYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)5 or more years of experience designing digital interfaces for web, mobile, or in vehicle platformsFormal training or a degree in Interface Design, Visual Design, or a related disciplineA strong portfolio with work samples demonstrating UX expertise, interaction design, creativity, and depth of thoughtProven experience bringing digital products to marketAbility to exercise restraint and intentionality in design decisionsProficiency with industry standard design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative SuiteStrong collaboration skills with cross functional teamsExcellent problem solving, organization, and written and verbal communication skillsWhat Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Prototyping experience, including software and or hardware developmentExperience creating high quality renders and animationsAbility to identify and apply technology to achieve design goalsDeep understanding of the competitive landscape in digital and automotive experiences GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
