Specialty SonographerThe Specialty Sonographer is fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Service and Stewardship by delivering appropriate direct and indirect quality patient care and performs scans in compliance with regulatory and department processes. The Specialty Sonographer is registered and performs specialty sonograms in the area of cardiology testing, or breast, or obstetrics and gynecology, or vascular testing.Primary Responsibilities Include:Ensuring the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient by verifying two forms of patient identification on Every Patient / Every Time.Accurately completing all required written and electronic documentation (ex: patient history, pregnancy, IV contrast, procedural consent, MAR, safety portal, medication reconciliation, PACS).Ensuring all charges are complete and accurate for all procedures and supplies used.Reviewing exam orders from medical charts and prescriptions prior to performing an exam.Performing procedure protocols, producing images consistent with image quality standards and following all Federal, State and Regional healthcare regulations, adhering to The Joint Commission standards.Properly positioning patients using appropriate technique.Properly identifying, preparing and administering medications within the technologists scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed independent practitioner.Maintaining productivity as determined by leadership.Practicing aseptic and sterile technique per Infection Control guidelines and policies.Ensuring equipment is clean and disinfected prior to each patient encounter and reporting malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department, fellow associates, and management in a timely manner.Ensuring exam rooms are clean, neat, stocked and disinfected.Minimum Qualifications:Education: Graduate of a Radiology Technology, or Sonography, or Cardiovascular programCertification: Must be registered by either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or the Cardiovascular Credentialing Institute (CCI)Must have one of the following or obtain within two (2) years of becoming registry eligible: RCCS, RCES, RCIS, RCS, RDCS (AE), RDCS (FE), RDCS (PE), RDMS (AB) (OB/GYN), RDMS (BR), RDMS (FE), RDMS (PS), ARRT (BS), ARRT (S), ARRT (VS), RVT (VT), RVSMust hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintainWork Experience: Prior sonography work experience preferredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities: Basic computer skills including knowledge of MS Office Outlook and Word, Excellent communication skills in an active team environment, Ability to assess and interpret data, Ability to clearly communicate with patient/family/physicians at various levels of understanding, Flexibility to work evening/weekend shifts as neededPhysical Requirements - Moderate:Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequentlyMedium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistanceMay require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or over headMay lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shiftMay be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noiseMay require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC GuidelinesCommunicating with others to exchange informationVisual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasksWorkspace may vary from open to confined.May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicleBenefits:At Health First, diversity and inclusion are essential for our continued growth and evolution.
