Laboratory Technician

Laboratory TechnicianPerform laboratory testing to support business needs in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner. Strict adherence to all company safety policies, guidelines, and laboratory testing methods. Continued maintenance and upgrading of skills in physical, chemical, and instrument testing. Compliance with good housekeeping and chemical hygiene standards in the deportment of all duties. Will be held accountable for the quality and quantity of work for all assigned tasks.A Refinery Laboratory Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: must possess ability to make accurate arithmetic calculations; participate in laboratory training program; possess ability to work independently conducting laboratory tests as required; possess ability to multi-task for optimum efficiency; will be held accountable for the quality and quantity of all assigned work; and conform to strict adherence of all laboratory/plant safety policies, guidelines, and testing methods.Required Qualifications:Must possess a high school diploma or equivalentMust have a minimum of one year of petroleum or chemical laboratory experienceMust be able to work independently with minimal direction/supervisionMust have successfully completed two (2) semesters of college chemistryMust possess minimal computer skillsMust pass entry testing.Must satisfactorily complete training and demonstrate qualificationMust continue to train and progress through Technician levels up to Lab Technician IMust possess and maintain a valid drivers’s licenseMust be able to lift 50 lbs.Preferred Qualifications:Two or more years of petroleum or chemical laboratory experienceAssociate Degree in ChemistryUnusual Working Conditions:Work 12 hour rotating shift schedule subject to forced overtimeStanding for extended periods of timeThe Hourly rate for this position is $47.24hr. The compensation listed in this posting is in compliance with applicable state law.
