Job Description

The Cable Technician installs, terminates, and tests audio, visual, and data cabling systems in commercial environments. This role focuses on setting up TVs, speakers, cameras, CCTV, and network infrastructure, including copper and fiber cabling, while ensuring all installations meet quality, safety, and performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure audio and visual equipment, including TVs, speakers, cameras, and CCTV systems in commercial facilities.
• Pull, route, and secure copper cables (Cat 5, Cat 6) through various pathways such as cable trays, ladder racks, and J-hooks.
• Terminate, label, and test copper cabling to ensure proper connectivity and performance.
• Perform IDF buildouts, including rack assembly, cable management, and equipment installation.
• Terminate, reinstall, and test coaxial and fiber optic cables as required by project specifications.
• Use test equipment such as Fluke testers and other mod testers to verify cable integrity and system performance.
• Interpret and work from blueprints, construction plans, and written directions to complete installations accurately.
• Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively for cable pulling, cutting, stripping, and fastening.
• Climb ladders and work at heights to install cabling and equipment in ceilings, walls, and other elevated areas.
• Work in confined spaces when necessary to route and secure wiring in challenging environments.
• Manage customer interactions professionally, clearly communicate project status, and respond to on-site needs.
• Run and oversee a crew when required, coordinating tasks and ensuring work is completed on time and to quality standards.
• Follow electrical, mechanical, and construction best practices to maintain safety and compliance on job sites.
• Maintain organized work areas, properly handle tools and materials, and ensure all installations are neat and serviceable.

• Hands-on experience installing audio and visual systems, including TVs, speakers, cameras, and CCTV.
• Strong ability to pull, route, terminate, and test copper cables such as Cat 5 and Cat 6.
• Experience pulling and installing fiber optic cabling.
• Proficiency with cable tray, ladder rack, J-hook installation, and rack assembly for structured cabling.
• Ability to use Fluke testers and other mod testers to verify cable performance and integrity.
• Skilled in terminating and reinstalling coaxial and fiber optic cables.
• Comfort working at heights and climbing ladders safely.
• Comfort working in confined spaces while routing and securing wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction documents, and written directions.
• Experience with wiring, electrical, mechanical, and construction-related tasks, particularly wire pulling.
• Capability to manage customers on-site and maintain professional communication.
• Ability and experience to run a crew and coordinate installation activities.
• Competent use of hand and power tools for cabling and installation work.

• Experience working in commercial environments and facilities.
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards and best practices.
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering clean, organized installations.
• Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting cabling and connectivity issues.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a crew.
• Reliability and strong work ethic in dynamic job site conditions.

Work Environment

Work takes place in indoor and outdoor commercial facilities, including offices, retail spaces, and other business environments. You regularly work on ladders and at heights, and occasionally in confined spaces to route and secure cabling. The role is tool-intensive, using equipment such as screwdrivers, drywall saws, torpedo levels, tape measures, snips with belt sheath, needle nose and channel lock pliers, hammers, cable strippers, flashlights, gloves, punch tools with 110 and 66 block blades, tone sets, 6/8 position combo crimp tools, and Krone/3M/BIX tools. The environment is active and construction-oriented, requiring adherence to safety practices and appropriate work attire suitable for job sites.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Los Angeles,CA.
