RN - Gastroenterology Specialists

Williamsburg, Virginia Overview Works under the supervision of the Practice Manager and Physician. Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non‑professional personnel working directly with him/her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age related needs of specific patient populations served in their assigned unit/dept. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi‑disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Medical Group. May float to other practices within the region providing operational support as needed. What You Will Do Maintain excellent clinical competency by adhering to the standard clinical expectations for Riverside Medical Group. Obtain vital signs proficiently (including manual vital signs when mechanical devices are not available). Complete all required competencies and education to maintain skill level to provide safe patient care. Provide complete patient assessment, including vital signs, medication reconciliation, and pre‑examination procedures. Assess patient’s medication management to include patient compliance, inventory, and educational needs. Assist the providers in all aspects of the consultation, treatment, procedures, and follow‑up care. Document data and assessments in the patient record. Complete patient consults and testing orders, insurance pre‑certification, and documentation appropriately to assure proper reimbursement. Document billing codes at the end of each nursing visit as required. Route notes to providers for co‑signatures as required. Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate safe, quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met. Recognize and respond to emergency situations. Evaluate practice support needs and identify resources to meet the needs. Provide patient/family health counseling and education as needed, including but not limited to medications, procedures, and testing. Answer My Chart messages or telephone calls from patients same day and perform triage. Communicate timely with providers, vendors, and other team members. Actively engage in practice activities to assure patient and team safety. Qualifications Education : Program Graduate, Diploma or Associate Program graduate (Required); Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (Preferred). Experience : 1 year in a medical office setting (Preferred). Skills and Abilities : Department specific skills will be required if entering a practice that performs moderate sedation, e.g., maintaining ACLS certification, yearly competency validation of moderate sedation procedures, airway management, and emergency management procedures. Licenses and Certifications : Registered Nurse (RN) – Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP), Upon Hire (Required); CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (Upon Hire, Required). #J-18808-Ljbffr 101 Riverside Hospital, Inc.
