Sr. Vacuum Engineer

This position will serve as the primary technical expert on ground up new product development projects while also providing occasional support for sustaining engineering projects where appropriate. In addition to strong technical aptitude, the ideal candidate will also possess the potential and desire to develop into a future leader in the company.

Job Responsibilities:

• Actively manage development projects thru the stage gate process while ensuring the right level of cross functional team engagement.
• Independently identify, scope and present to leadership new product or technology opportunities to grow the business.
• Provide technical guidance as necessary around sustaining engineering projects including quality improvements, cost reductions, validation testing, safety and compliance, application engineering.
• Provide mentorship to other members of the team with the goal to strengthen the overall organization.
• Engage with leadership team, sales team and customers to understand the needs and innovation potential in the market and create a solid business case for each project
• Work effectively across departments and with all employees to support our strategic plan
• Represent company at industry functions and trade shows to learn provide feedback on opportunities for improvement through innovation

Job Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field
• 7+ years of experience designing combustion systems for gas appliances. Experience in variety of burner types strongly preferred
• Results driven, process oriented, well organized and thrive in a fast paced, team focused environment
• Proven track record of successful product launches with specific examples of hurdles that were overcome to do so
• Demonstrated leadership skills and an eagerness to develop as a leader
• Continuous improvement mindset
• Proven ability to build positive trust based relationships and influence. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to be personable yet persistent. Ability to negotiate and be diplomatic
• Optimistic attitude and will do what it takes to win
• Proven teamwork skills both as a leader and as a cross-functional team member
• Skilled in researching market benchmarks, interpreting customer needs, and proposing innovative solutions
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of individuals within our business
• Flexibility to travel when necessary
• Experience with electronic controls preferred but not required
