About the Role

The Company is seeking a Deputy Chief of Schools for the Options School Network. This role is pivotal in supporting the Chief of Options in the development and coaching of school leaders and operators to ensure rigorous instruction and high-impact student support, with a focus on improving graduation rates and postsecondary outcomes for students facing significant barriers. The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with and developing instructional leadership teams, supporting the implementation of school improvement plans, and monitoring the progress of school improvement initiatives. They will also be involved in the evaluation and reporting of school performance, as well as managing the process for student transfers into Options Schools. The Deputy Chief will work closely with the Chief of Schools to build a high-performing community of principals and school leaders and will be expected to demonstrate a high level of moral imperative and instructional expertise. Candidates for the Deputy Chief of Schools position must have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in education, a valid Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License or equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience, with a preference for those with urban experience. Additionally, a minimum of 4 years of experience as a school principal or in a district administration role, and at least 3 years of experience in coaching and mentoring educators, is required. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success, expertise in leadership and instructional development, and the ability to build collaborative relationships. Strong communication, project planning, and strategic planning skills are essential, as is the ability to lead and manage a team effectively. The role demands a candidate who is adept at problem-solving, data analysis, and is committed to the values of student-centered, whole child, equity, academic excellence, and continuous learning.
