Job Description

Join our HII Mission Technologies team supporting the Refueling and Complex Overhaul (RCOH) of nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, the only shipyard in the world performing this work. RCOH involves extensive modernization across ship systems, ensuring aircraft carriers remain capable and ready for the next 25 years of service.

We are seeking a Team Lead to support the Aircraft Carrier Climate Control Improvement Team (ACCCIT). This role focuses on leading personnel involved in overhaul and repair activities related to ventilation and climate control systems. While technical familiarity is beneficial, success in this role is driven primarily by strong leadership, coordination, and the ability to guide a team of subject matter experts.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Primarily leads and directs teams performing installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade activities across shipboard systems.
• Manages work planning, task assignments, and scheduling for multiple jobs and teams.
• Oversees execution of work while ensuring proper documentation, compliance, and communication with stakeholders.
• Coordinates with technical SMEs to resolve system issues and validate performance.
• Troubleshoots process or system challenges to ensure timely resolution.
• Supports integration of field changes and system updates while maintaining strong customer and team communication.
• May provide onsite guidance or training to shipboard personnel as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience to include at least 2 years of team/deck lead experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications. Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty
• Ability to provide designated personal hand tools per trade requirements
• Working knowledge of the Tag Out Procedure
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams within trades or operational environments.
• Experience with QMS / quality documentation.

Preferred Requirements

• Technical/professional certifications in mechanical or electrical fields are a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, and ethical decision‑making skills.
• Familiarity with shipboard supply and exhaust ventilation systems is beneficial.
• Competence with computer‑based systems and Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel).

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
