Job Description
COMPANY PROFILE: EQUINOX HOTELS
Equinox Hotels is a luxury lifestyle hospitality brand built on the evolution of Equinox and its experience-defining approach. Adapting Equinox’s founding principles to hospitality, the brand has envisioned and introduced a new category of modern luxury - purposeful, performance-driven, and restorative.
ROLE SCOPE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as the senior corporate finance partner to the President and leadership team, providing insight and recommendations on financial planning, budgeting, capital allocation, cash flow, and business performance.
- Develop and maintain multi-year forecasts, scenario analyses, annual budgets, and portfolio performance models that support operating and growth decisions.
- Develop and continuously refine the financial reporting infrastructure, ensuring leadership and ownership receive timely, accurate, and actionable insight into performance, trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Partner with functional and hotel leaders to define and track KPIs, translating operational activity into financial outcomes and identifying opportunities to improve profitability and productivity.
Property Finance Leadership & Performance Management
- Directly lead, mentor, and develop property Directors of Finance, establishing clear expectations for financial performance, reporting quality, controls, and partnership with General Managers and operating leaders.
- Establish and maintain standardized accounting policies, reporting frameworks, chart-of-accounts standards, and internal control requirements across corporate and property finance teams.
- Conduct regular property financial and operational reviews, including GOP, EBITDA, NOI, forecast accuracy, cost controls, productivity, working capital, and other relevant performance measures.
- Support property DOFs in budgeting, forecasting, audits, owner reporting, corrective action plans, and the resolution of significant accounting or control matters.
- Ensure property Directors of Finance comply with HMA terms, including but not limited to fee calculations, allocations, and reporting requirements.
Ownership, Asset Management & Lender Relations
- Serve as a key financial interface with ownership and investment partners, managing reporting cadences, responding to financial inquiries, and supporting alignment between ownership objectives and operational execution.
- Review annual business plans and capital expenditure programs and provide recommendations to leadership and ownership; monitor property performance against approved plans and investment objectives.
- Serve as the day-to-day finance contact for lenders across reporting, covenant compliance, appraisals, and site visits; support refinancing and new financing initiatives.
- Monitor financial obligations under leases, hotel management agreements, loan documents, and other material agreements, coordinating with leadership and legal counsel when interpretation or amendments are required.
- Support the negotiation of amendments to hotel management agreements, loan documents, and partnership or shareholder agreements, working with leadership and outside counsel.
- Support ongoing asset reviews and value-creation initiatives focused on revenue growth, margin improvement, cash flow, NOI, and long-term asset performance.
Accounting, SOP Governance & Internal Controls
- Oversee corporate and portfolio accounting processes, treasury and cash management reporting, consolidations, and close/reporting disciplines, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement.
- Establish, implement, and continuously refine finance and accounting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across corporate and property teams.
- Maintain a robust internal control framework to safeguard assets and promote financial integrity; conduct periodic control and process reviews, identify gaps, and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (IFRS Internationally) and applicable accounting standards, federal, state, and local tax requirements, management agreements, lender requirements, and ownership reporting standards.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Coordinate and oversee external audit processes at corporate and property levels, including audit schedules, financial statements, supporting documentation, and timely resolution of findings.
- Serve as a primary finance contact for external auditors, tax advisors, ownership representatives, and other financial stakeholders.
- Coordinate tax compliance and reporting with internal and external resources, ensuring required filings and support are complete and timely. (US)
- Stay current on labor policies, regulations, and collective bargaining requirements that affect the operating portfolio, partnering with Operations and People teams on financial and compliance implications. (US)
Financial Systems & Reporting Infrastructure
- Own the functional roadmap and administration of finance and reporting systems, including accounting platforms, consolidation and reporting tools, and integrations with PMS, POS, and other operating systems.
- Partner with internal resources, external vendors, and consultants to select, implement, integrate, maintain, and improve financial systems and reporting tools appropriate for a scalable multi-property operation.
- Maintain data integrity, reporting structures, and standardized financial master data; identify opportunities to automate recurring processes and improve efficiency and control.
- Coordinate troubleshooting, upgrades, and finance-system enhancements, ensuring business continuity and appropriate documentation.
Growth & Expansion
- Assist Development Team as needed to build and present pro forma financial models for new properties, development opportunities, and potential acquisitions, including market assumptions, scenario modeling, and investment-return analysis.
- Partner with Development, Operations, PropCo, and ownership groups on financial diligence, underwriting support, pre-opening planning, and evaluation of new opportunities.
- Support market and competitive analyses and assess the operating and capital implications of proposed growth initiatives.
- Maintain short- and long-term cash flow and capital forecasts to support liquidity planning and portfolio growth.
Team & Culture
- Build and develop a high-performing finance organization as the portfolio grows, creating clear accountability, strong technical standards, and consistent development opportunities for finance leaders.
- Communicate financial complexity clearly to non-finance audiences, helping leaders understand performance drivers, tradeoffs, and actions required.
- Promote a culture of precision, discipline, transparency, continuous improvement, and high performance aligned with the Equinox Hotels brand.
WHO YOU ARE
- You are a seasoned hospitality finance leader who is equally comfortable working with ownership and senior leadership and operating in the details of hotel financial performance. You thrive in a lean, entrepreneurial environment where the finance leader is expected to be hands-on, resourceful, commercially minded, and accountable for execution.
- You think and act like a partner, not just a function head.
- You combine strategic perspective with strong accounting and operational finance discipline, and you know when to move from analysis to action.
- You communicate financial complexity clearly to ownership groups, hotel operators, executive teams, and non-finance partners, earning trust through accuracy, consistency, and sound judgment.
- You are forward-looking: you do not simply report what happened; you identify what is changing, why it matters, and what should happen next.
- You are comfortable building and improving processes in an evolving organization without sacrificing control, accuracy, or accountability.
- You are a strong coach and team builder who can elevate property finance leaders while maintaining clear standards across the portfolio.
- You are a multiplier — people grow professionally around you, and you create the conditions for that intentionally.
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and growth, and you understand that scaling from one hotel to a multi-property portfolio requires stronger systems, governance, and consistency at every stage.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including significant leadership experience in the hospitality industry.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing hotel financial operations across portfolio of properties, with direct exposure to property Directors of Finance or comparable finance leaders.
- Strong command of hotel financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, audits, cash flow, and owner reporting.
- Meaningful experience with asset management, ownership structures, management agreements, and lender or financing requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to build or improve scalable financial processes, reporting infrastructure, and SOPs in a lean or growing organization.
- Strong relationship-management and communication skills with ownership, operators, auditors, lenders, vendors, and senior leadership.

- CPA, MBA, or other relevant advanced credentials.
- Experience in luxury or lifestyle hospitality brands and multi-property environments.
- Background in real estate finance, asset management, development, or other asset-intensive businesses.
- Experience evaluating, implementing, integrating, and administering hotel finance and reporting systems.

- Base Salary: $240,000.00 to $250,000.00 (commensurate with experience)
- Annual Incentive Bonus: 30% target bonus opportunity
- Benefits/Perquisites: Complimentary Equinox Club “All Access” Membership for one (1)
