About the Role We're looking for someone who bridges biology, data, and programming. You might be: A bioinformatician who's experienced coding but doesn't consider yourself a professional engineer. An experienced data engineer who's passionate about working on biological problems A make-your-own-adventure kind of person who can get the job done You'll be part of a balanced team that includes both biological and technical expertise all working together towards a common goal. This is a fully remote position open to candidates worldwide, with the expectation that you'll be available to collaborate during Eastern Time (ET) morning hours. What You'll Do Help design systems that connect biomedical data in meaningful ways, including building knowledge models of specific disease mechanisms Collaborate with domain scientists to understand their research needs and create integrated views of data across multiple modalities Transform biological datasets into useful, structured formats while developing AI tools to help scientists discover non-obvious connections Develop and apply AI approaches to answer complex scientific questions, including training specialized language models on biomedical literature Work with cutting-edge AI models for data processing and engineering, applying large language models to extract structured information from scientific texts Learn about and implement the latest AI techniques for knowledge discovery, building AI systems that can reason over biomedical knowledge Work with a team that values both scientific accuracy and technical implementation while improving how research findings connect to existing knowledge Contribute to a platform that scientists actually find valuable Qualifications We value your background and perspective more than specific technical skills. You'll likely have: For Those Coming from Biology: Degree in Biology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related field Experience applying computational approaches to biological problems At least 2 years of professional experience with Python. Experience with biological datasets, databases or ontologies Interest in learning more about AI, database and knowledge systems Curiosity about how AI can accelerate scientific discovery For Those Coming from Data/Engineering: Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field At least 5 years of experience with Python, or C, C++ or Rust.
