Front Desk Agent | Hotel Weyanoke, Farmville, Virginia
$13/hour | Full-time | Downtown Farmville

Hotel Weyanoke has anchored High Street since 1925. Seventy rooms, independent, no corporate playbook, and a front desk small enough that you're not a shift-worker in a rotation of fifteen. You're the person guests remember.

You'll have real ownership of how a stay goes, and real accountability when something needs fixing. If you want to hide behind a system, this is the wrong desk. If you want to actually solve things for people, keep reading.

What the job actually looks like

• Arrivals and departures. Check-ins, check-outs, room assignments, and the small acts of anticipation that turn a room into a stay.
• The desk as command center. Reservations, billing, payments, phones, guest messages, and packages. Cash drawer balanced, shift report clean, daily log accurate.
• Local expert. Guests ask what's worth doing in Farmville. You'll know, and your answer will be better than a brochure.
• Problem-solving in real time. Concerns get handled with empathy and follow-through, not a transfer to someone else.
• Selling, without the sales voice. Walk-in rooms, current rates, and packages, offered because they fit the guest, not because you have a quota.
• Coordination. Room status stays accurate because you're in constant contact with housekeeping and maintenance.
• Team backup. You'll pitch in with our hospitality and food and beverage teams when the day calls for it.

What you bring

• High school diploma
• One to two years of hotel front desk experience preferred, though we'll train the right person
• Comfort with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; hotel PMS experience (RoomKey or similar) is a plus
• Clear communication, sharp attention to detail, and the composure to stay pleasant when the lobby is full
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Genuinely nice. We're serious about this one. Skills we can teach.

The honest logistics

• Flexible availability required, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Standing for extended periods; lifting up to 40 pounds
