Position Overview The Traffic Control Plan Designer creates accurate and compliant traffic control plans using Rapid Plan Design software to support safe and efficient work zones. This role works closely with customers, contractors, government agencies, and internal teams to coordinate approvals, schedules, and project needs. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and practical knowledge of traffic control operations and field production. Key Roles and Responsibilities Ability to read and interpret job site blueprints to create an effective traffic control plan for the worksite Utilize Rapid Plan to design and draw traffic control plans focusing on meeting the customer’s needs and compliance requirements for the specific job Take project orders from customers and relay them to the proper scheduling team Quote customers on Daily Rentals Assist with job setups and takedowns Research permitting requirements for each job and ensure proper permits are obtained prior to the work being performed Handle jurisdiction contacts and specifications Guide customers’ plans to meet their needs and comply with regulatory requirements, including providing expertise on the permitting requirements for the work they are performing Basic permanent installation, pavement marking (striping) knowledge Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures All other duties as assigned Qualifications Ability to read maps and knowledge of local streets Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an aptitude for building relationships with team members inside and outside of the organization Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail Self‑motivated; capable of taking initiative, successfully handling, and prioritizing multiple competing assignments, and effectively managing deadlines A passion for working in a high-growth business as the pace and expectations of the culture A passion for success, a positive and friendly attitude, and a consistent work ethic are all a must Prefer previous experience with Rapid Plan CAD software or equivalent Strong working knowledge of the Manual Uniform of Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Microsoft office experience and use is required in this role Willing to travel as needed for customer meetings Working Environment / Physical Requirements Position involves sitting for extended periods of time while working at a computer terminal Employee is regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, sit and use hands Employee occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus Field Environment Work can be performed outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions / varying temperatures, e.g., exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, dry, and/or windy conditions Minimum lifting requirements is 25 lbs Work includes lifting (including overhead) up to 75 lbs; standing, walking, climbing, twisting, kneeling, reaching, and feeling, climbing and balance, crouching, and crawling Able to stand for extended periods of time, 8 to 10 hrs per day up to 6 days per week Regulatory Requirements Valid Driver’s License and clean MVR (Must maintain a valid driver’s license during entire employment) Pass pre‑employment, random, post‑accident and reasonable suspicion drug screens Satisfactory results of pre‑employment background check Hold/obtain DOT medical card TCS Certification / or hours required to obtain Colorado Barricade Co. is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and affirmative action employer.
