This role is based at a military medical facility located in Fort Benning, GA. The area, known as the ‘Tri-Community,’ includes Columbus, Georgia; Fort Benning, Georgia; and Phoenix City, Alabama. Columbus, the third-largest city in Georgia, is a vibrant community with a population of 250,000. In addition to being home to one of the premier Army installations, Columbus hosts the headquarters of several major corporations. The beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida and the Blue Ridge Mountains are just a few hours away.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Physician specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, your duties will include:
- Acting as a specialist and consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology, focusing on outpatient care.
- Conducting examinations, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of OB/GYN patients.
- Demonstrating proficiency in both abdominal and trans-vaginal ultrasonography relevant to outpatient medicine.
- Utilizing screening and diagnostic techniques for OB/GYN cancers, including biopsies and colposcopy, while providing primary preventive care and education to female patients in the clinic.
- Assessing both functional and dysfunctional issues related to the female pelvis, such as masses, pain, urinary complaints, abnormal bleeding, hormonal imbalances, and infections.
- Evaluating emergency obstetric situations and providing treatment or appropriate referrals as necessary.
Additionally, you will:
- Perform advanced examinations and treatments for patients referred for consultation, conducting comprehensive evaluations of medical management issues.
- Analyze laboratory and clinical data to determine suitable treatment plans and follow-up care.
- Collaborate with specialists in related fields to address interconnected medical issues.
- Admit and discharge patients as needed, and participate in labor and delivery for childbirth.
- Handle emergencies and fulfill on-call responsibilities.
Moreover, you will:
- Engage in the medical education program within the department, mentoring and training residents, interns, medical students, and other healthcare professionals in outpatient OB-GYN care.
- Deliver lectures on outpatient OB-GYN topics to departmental staff when requested.
- Attend departmental and service-specific conferences and lectures, ensuring you stay updated on the latest developments in obstetrics and gynecology through annual continuing medical education.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology is required.
- Candidates must possess a permanent, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a US territory.
