Experienced Veterinary Assistant – Alpha Veterinary Services

Location: Uniontown, PA 15401
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM | Rotating Saturdays, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM

Since 2014, Alpha Veterinary Services has proudly served the Uniontown community by providing compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to both companion animals and large animals. As a growing mixed-animal practice, we're looking for an Experienced Veterinary Assistant who enjoys hands-on patient care, thrives in a team environment, and is ready to continue building their clinical skills.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll work closely with our veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide excellent patient care. Responsibilities may include:

• Assist veterinarians and technicians during appointments, treatments, and procedures

• Safely restrain and handle patients for examinations and treatments

• Obtain patient histories and assist with room appointments

• Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites

• Assist with surgical preparation and patient recovery

• Collect laboratory samples and assist with in-house diagnostic testing

• Perform venipuncture and assist with IV catheter placement based on experience

• Assist with digital radiographs and other diagnostics

• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments under veterinary supervision

• Provide attentive care to hospitalized patients

• Communicate with clients regarding basic patient care and discharge instructions

• Maintain accurate patient information and treatment documentation

• Clean, disinfect, and maintain patient care and treatment areas

• Support your teammates and help maintain an efficient hospital workflow

• 1–2+ years of veterinary assistant or veterinary hospital experience preferred

• Comfortable with animal restraint and hands-on patient care

• Previous experience with blood draws, laboratory samples, treatments, or surgical assistance is highly preferred

• Strong communication and client service skills

• Ability to work effectively in a busy, team-focused environment

• Dependable, compassionate, and willing to jump in wherever needed

• Eager to learn and continue developing veterinary clinical skills

• Willingness to work rotating Saturday shifts

• Experience with surgery, anesthesia, dentistry, or large animals is a plus
