Truss Assembler

Truss Builder Job Description The Truss Builder is responsible for using hammer and nail plates to manufacture roof and floor trusses. This role requires close collaboration with the Sawyer and Truss Stacker to ensure the delivery of defect‑free, high‑quality trusses to customers. Shift/Pay Mon‑Fri 7‑5:30, 5x10s shift with built‑in overtime. Expect to clear over $1100 per week. $20‑23 per hour to start. Increase after 90‑day training period. Responsibilities Inspect materials for damage prior to use, including checking for cracks, excessive wane, mold, and sun damage. Assist with unloading precut lumber from saws to the building station, placing them in specified positions to enhance efficiency during truss fabrication. Use pull sheets to gather the correct number of nail plates needed for the current batch of trusses. Fabricate trusses by placing lumber onto the fabrication table and assembling them using nail plates and a hammer. Ensure trusses are manufactured with tight joints, no material defects, and properly positioned plates by following standard procedures. Maintain a steady work pace with a sense of urgency, ensuring high accuracy in work quality. Adhere to dress and hygiene standards, contributing to the cleanliness of the location. Minimize product damage and rebuilds, assisting in the completion of the day’s workload. Perform other related duties as assigned. Essential Skills Proficiency with hand and power tools. Experience in manufacturing processes, production assembly, construction, and carpentry. Ability to use a framing hammer, electric saw, pneumatic nail gun, and other necessary equipment. Competence in reading a tape measure. Additional Skills & Qualifications Reliable transportation is required. Puncture‑resistant, slip‑resistant, and leather or composite material shoes are necessary. Physical capability to sit, stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods; lift/push/pull up to 100 pounds and carry objects up to 50 feet. Work Environment This position operates in a warehouse/construction materials yard in all weather conditions. Working days are Monday through Friday, with Saturdays as needed. Hours and schedule may change based on workload and season. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.16 – $22.35 per hour. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
