Fleet Manager

Granville County is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Fleet Manager to oversee the County’s Fleet Management Program, which consists of approximately 140 vehicles. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, compliant, and cost-effective fleet operations through strategic planning, program administration, and cross departmental collaboration. The Fleet Manager serves as the primary liaison between County departments, fleet service providers, and County Administration. Responsibilities Manage and oversee leased and County-owned vehicles in partnership with fleet service providers. Administer fleet management systems, telematics platforms, and fuel card programs. Maintain accurate vehicle, driver, fuel, and maintenance records. Monitor fleet performance, utilization, maintenance schedules, inspections, and recalls. Analyze fleet data and prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for leadership. Coordinate vehicle repairs, maintenance activities, and replacement planning. Collaborate with County departments to identify fleet needs and improve operational effectiveness. Support long-range fleet planning and vehicle lifecycle management. Implement and monitor compliance with County vehicle policies and procedures. Manage vehicle surplus and disposal processes. Monitor fleet expenditures and oversee the annual fleet budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational efficiencies. Develop and implement procedures for vehicle incidents and fleet operations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of fleet management, maintenance operations, and local government practices. Knowledge of budgeting, financial systems, telematics, fuel management, and fleet information systems. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to analyze data and forecast maintenance, fuel, and vehicle replacement needs. Ability to prepare detailed reports and presentations for leadership and stakeholders. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work within established budgets and policies.
