Travel Electrician

This role focuses on performing the electrical installation, repair, and maintenance work required to build and refurbish industrial paint booths in manufacturing and industrial environments. You will travel extensively to project sites, interpret and follow electrical blueprints and schematics, and ensure all electrical systems are installed safely, accurately, and in compliance with relevant standards. The position requires extended travel assignments and hands-on work with electrical systems, tools, and equipment in active production facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform the electrical portion of building and repairing industrial paint booths in manufacturing and industrial settings.
• Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, drawings, and electrical schematics to ensure accurate and compliant electrical installations.
• Install, terminate, and connect electrical wiring, conduit, cable, and related components for paint booth systems and associated equipment.
• Lay out, bend, and install conduit runs, ensuring proper routing, support, and protection of electrical wiring.
• Pull wire and cable through conduit and raceways, making secure and organized connections to panels, switchgear, and control devices.
• Install and wire low-voltage systems, lighting, and associated controls as required for paint booth construction projects.
• Assemble, install, and connect electrical panels, switchgear, and other distribution equipment in accordance with project specifications.
• Use hand tools and power tools to cut, fit, and install electrical components, conduit, and support structures.
• Operate equipment as needed to support installation and construction activities, following all safety procedures.
• Perform troubleshooting on electrical systems and components to identify issues, make repairs, and verify proper operation.
• Assist with welding and fabricating tasks related to mounting or supporting electrical components and paint booth structures, as needed.
• Collaborate with millwrights and other trades to coordinate electrical work with mechanical installation and overall project timelines.
• Complete repairs and adjustments to electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable operation of paint booths and related equipment.
• Follow all job site safety rules and procedures while working in active manufacturing and industrial facilities.
• Travel to project sites across the country and remain on assignment for extended periods, typically 3–6 months at a time, as required.
• Take on additional tasks and responsibilities necessary to complete projects successfully and on schedule.

• Active electrician license with experience in industrial or construction electrical work.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Hands-on experience with electrical installation, including wiring, conduit installation, and pulling wire in industrial or construction environments.
• Skill in conduit bending, cable routing, and proper termination of electrical conductors.
• Experience installing and working with low-voltage systems, lighting, switchgear, and electrical distribution equipment.
• Ability to perform electrical troubleshooting and repair on industrial systems and equipment.
• Competence using hand tools and power tools commonly used in electrical and construction work.
• Experience with industrial construction or millwright-style work related to equipment and system installation.
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively and remain on assignment for 3–6 months at a time without returning home.
• Capacity to work 60-hour weeks, typically Monday through Saturday, in active manufacturing facilities.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to job site safety practices in industrial environments.

• Journeyman electrician status or equivalent level of trade qualification.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification, which may be required for some projects.
• Equipment operating certifications, such as for forklifts, aerial lifts, or similar machinery.
• Experience with paint booth construction, installation, or maintenance.
• Background in welding and fabricating to support installation of electrical and structural components.
• Millwright experience or exposure to mechanical installation in industrial settings.
• Flexibility to perform a variety of construction and installation tasks beyond core electrical duties.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while on the road.

Work Environment

You will work primarily in manufacturing and industrial facilities, often in active production environments where safety, awareness, and professionalism are essential. The schedule typically runs Monday through Saturday, with most weeks totaling around 60 hours, including overtime. Work is performed on job sites across the country, requiring extended travel and multi-month stays away from home. The role involves frequent use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as lifts or other machinery, as well as working around heavy equipment and industrial processes. Conditions may include varying temperatures, noise levels, and standing or working at heights for extended periods, with appropriate personal protective equipment provided and required.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Atlanta, GA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
