Position Summary

Full Time Dental Assistant. M-TH, 2 Fridays/mo. The Dental Assistant supports the doctor in delivering high-quality clinical care while ensuring an efficient and positive patient experience. This role assists with treatment procedures, maintains sterilization and OSHA standards, manages clinical notes, and helps keep the practice running smoothly. The primary purpose of the position is to provide exceptional patient care, assist the dentist chairside, maintain efficient patient flow, and uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Chairside Support

• Set up and break down operatories for all procedures.
• Assist the doctor chairside during examinations and treatments.
• Take radiographs using Dexis and Nomad systems.
• Update and review patient medical histories.
• Assist with clinical charting and accurate clinical notes.
• Take impressions, digital scans, and intraoral photos.
• Assist with patient comfort during visits, including seating and communication.
• Manage and stock operatories with necessary supplies.

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Review medical history and confirm accuracy before treatment.
• Provide post-operative instructions clearly and compassionately.
• Facilitate patient comfort throughout the appointment.
• Assist with patient education regarding procedures as directed by the doctor.

Technology & Clinical Systems

• Dentrix practice management software
• Dexis digital X-ray system
• Nomad handheld X-ray unit
• Intraoral cameras
• Digital scanning systems
• Dental Intel
• CDCT scan (Cone Beam CT)

Sterilization, OSHA, & Infection Control

• Sterilize and prepare instruments according to CDC and OSHA standards.
• Monitor and document weekly spore tests.
• Follow all OSHA regulations for infection control and safety.
• Maintain sterilization equipment and clinical tools.
• Manage and complete infection control logs accurately.
• Ensure operatories and sterilization areas remain clean and organized.

Requirements:

Experience Requirements

• Bilingual (preferred, not required)
• Dental assisting experience 
• X-ray certification required or must be obtained within a designated timeframe.
• Ability to learn and follow clinical systems, dental terminology, and procedural workflows.
