Network / Systems EngineerThe Network / Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting client and internal network and server infrastructures. This role provides advanced technical expertise across networking, virtualization, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and Microsoft technologies. The Network / Systems Engineer serves as a Tier 3 escalation resource, leads infrastructure projects, and helps ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology environments that enable business success.The ideal candidate combines strong networking expertise with systems administration experience and is comfortable working directly with clients, vendors, and internal teams to deliver exceptional technical outcomes. This position is expected to perform both remote and onsite support as needed.Infrastructure & Systems AdministrationDeploy, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server environments.Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and identity management.Administer virtualization environments including VMware and Hyper-V.Support Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Azure services.Perform systems monitoring, performance tuning, patch management, and health assessments.Develop disaster recovery and business continuity recommendations.Network EngineeringDesign, implement, and support LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN, and VPN environments.Configure and maintain firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless infrastructure.Troubleshoot complex network performance, security, and connectivity issues.Implement and maintain network security best practices.Support VoIP and unified communications platforms.Develop network documentation, diagrams, and standards.Project DeliveryLead infrastructure deployment and migration projects.Conduct client discovery sessions and technical assessments.Provide project staging, testing, implementation, and post-deployment support.Participate in system upgrades, cloud migrations, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.Deliver project status updates and ensure projects meet established timelines.Client Support & EscalationServe as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues.Communicate effectively with clients, end users, vendors, and internal stakeholders.Provide technical recommendations and strategic guidance to clients.Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.Mentor junior engineers and technical staff.Security & ComplianceImplement infrastructure security controls and best practices.Support vulnerability remediation efforts.Maintain compliance with security standards and client requirements.Assist with incident response, threat mitigation, and security audits.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent experience may be substituted.4+ years of experience supporting enterprise network and systems environments.Advanced knowledge of: TCP/IP networkingRouting and switchingFirewalls and VPN technologiesDNS and DHCPActive Directory and Group PolicyWindows Server administrationMicrosoft 365 administrationVirtualization technologies (VMware and/or Hyper-V)Experience with Azure and cloud-based infrastructure solutions.Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Fortinet, Cisco, SonicWall, Meraki, Aruba, or Ubiquiti platforms.Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop and cloud networking.Experience with monitoring and management tools.Experience supporting managed services environments.Familiarity with SIEM, endpoint security, and cybersecurity frameworks.Preferred CertificationsMicrosoft Certified: Azure Administrator AssociateMicrosoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect ExpertCisco CCNA or CCNPCompTIA Network+CompTIA Security+VMware VCPFortinet NSE/FCPCompetenciesStrong customer service orientationTechnical leadership and mentoringAttention to detailProblem-solving and critical thinkingOrganizational and time management skillsAbility to work independently and collaborativelyAdaptability and continuous learning mindsetPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.Ability to travel to client locations as required.Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends during maintenance windows or critical incidents.Work EnvironmentHybrid, remote, or onsite depending on business needs.Participation in an on-call rotation may be required.Standard Disclaimer This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee.
