What you'll do The Assistant Nurse Manager provides management assistance on an assigned shift and is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The ANM assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient needs at the expert level. The ANM contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork, assures that the care provided is consistent with applicable standards, regulations, statutes and state and federal law, and provides leadership to department staff, serving as a resource and mentor. The ANM assists the Nurse Manager with elements of planning, organizing, controlling, climate setting, leadership, and operational duties.

Pay Transparency Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. Pay Range Minimum: USD $48.50/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum: USD $72.75/Hr.

- Provides nursing care and services to patients throughout the life span and in various settings at an expert level consistent with experience and educational preparation.
- Collects, analyzes, and records relevant patient health data accurately.
- Analyzes assessment data to identify patient problems.
- Identifies expected outcomes individualized to the patient.
- Implements and records interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem.
- Evaluates the patient's progress toward attainment of identified goals.
- Develops a plan of care that describes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
- Adheres to approved, research-based practice standards.
- Enters accurate documentation of all patient care activities.
- Directs and supervises patient care provided by LPNs, RNs and support personnel.
- Effectively precepts new staff members or students.
- Acts effectively as charge nurse or group leader.
- Will function in a role of Administrative Clinical Nursing Supervisor on a rotational basis.
- Demonstrates consideration of safety, effective utilization of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care.
- Assists the Nurse Manager with elements of planning, organizing, controlling, climate setting, leadership, performance improvement, customer satisfaction, people development, professional growth, and unit profitability.
- Participates in service recovery and proactive patient rounding. Responds to customer feedback within acceptable timeframe.
- Participates in gathering data, designing, planning, and implementing programs.
- Assists with resource and productivity issues according to established department procedures.
- Participates or leads committees as directed by the Nurse Manager, as noted in portfolio review.
- Plans and implements selected remedial actions for individuals and/or the unit with objectivity and expertise.
- Responds to and acts on budgetary issues.
- Assists with achieving Operating Performance Standards as described and reviewed by the Nurse Manager
- Monitors activities and performance of selected staff with objectivity and expertise, as reviewed with the Nurse Manager.
- Completes Performance Appraisals for selected unit staff, as observed by the Nurse Manager.
- Engages in timely communication with management team and staff using acceptable communication techniques.
- Serves in own community as a fitting representative of Bassett Healthcare as described in portfolio and reviewed by Nurse Manager.
- Communicates performance issues to management team with objectivity and expertise.
- Demonstrates daily involvement with selected staff to monitor professional development, identify educational and developmental needs, provide coaching and mentoring where indicated.
- After voicing opinion and working towards consensus, aligns with the Nurse Manager's decisions and provides a positive attitude with staff.
- Advocates for patients to ensure the care preserves and protects the patient's autonomy, dignity and rights.
- Delivers care in a non-judgmental and non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to patient diversity.
- Assures that patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures.
- Adheres to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses
- Acquires and maintains current knowledge and skills in his or her area of practice.
- Provides proof of current BLS validation to supervisor
- Participates in 19-24 hours of education activity related to job function annually.
- Develops and evaluates systems for orienting new staff and students.
- Demonstrates clinical problem-solving ability.
- Designs and coordinates PI initiatives demonstrating good organizing skills and follow-through.
- Contributes to the body of nursing knowledge through use of research and participation in professional practice committees and organizations.
- Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed.
- May spend a portion of their scheduled time in a direct care function within the unit.
- 2 year/Associate degree in Nursing, required
- 4 year/Bachelor degree from an accredited Baccalaureate Professional Nursing program, preferred
- *** All RN's hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor's prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN's licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement
- Minimum 2 years experience in practice area, required
- Minimum 2 years experience in Charge Nurse or leadership role, required
- Current NYS License as a RN, required
- BLS Certification, required
- Specialty areas may require PALS, ACLS or additional certifications

Bonus Amount:
- RN (excluding management) sign-on bonuses are awarded in the amount of $20,000 for full time
- LPN sign on bonuses are awarded in the amount of $10,000 for full time
- A.O. Fox Hospital, Bassett Medical Center, Cobleskill Regional Hospital, Little Falls Hospital, O'Connor Hospital, Valley Health Services and Valley Residential Services
