Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Hourly Compensation: $30.00 - $40.00 per Hour. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. About the Role DBE/United Utility Services is seeking a full-time Heavy Diesel Mechanic for Fort Pierce, FL. A minimum of 5 years of related experience is required. Duties and Responsibilities Special consideration given to individuals with maintenance experience on directional drilling equipment. Diagnosis, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and diesel equipment. Perform root-cause analysis to determine necessary corrective actions. Must have the ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical schematic diagrams and technical repair manuals. Conduct extensive equipment inspections and identify worn and damaged parts. Verify equipment performance by conducting field tests. Spec parts needed for repairs and order from suppliers. Fabrication of some parts may be required. Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures. Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units. Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs. Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Ability and willingness to travel to job sites located within the Southeast. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to various levels of employees and management. Must be a self-starter who can work independently. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years mechanic experience, preferably in the construction industry. Must have extensive diagnostic and repair experience with trucks and heavy equipment, preferably including directional drills. Must have own tools. Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Occasional long hours to support drill crew during critical pullbacks. Willing to travel for 2-3 days at a time. Job Type: Full-time. Must be able to travel.
