About the Position

Job Title: Clinical Nurse (RN) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of three years of acute care experience required. License: CA RN License Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing. Associate Degree or BSN accepted. Description: The Clinical Nurse (RN) has the responsibility, accountability, and authority to deliver safe, effective, quality nursing care according to nursing philosophies and goals. The RN utilizes theories of caring and relationship-based care to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for all patients assigned. The RN makes determinations regarding patient progress towards health goals. The RN utilizes therapeutic relationships with patients and families to promote, maintain, and restore health. Care is provided according to the specific physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient. The RN supports the mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence of the organization. The RN is considered competent when he/she consistently demonstrates the ability to apply scientific knowledge in the nursing process. The RN provides care that aligns with the interdisciplinary plan and principles of relationship-based care. The RN assesses patient physical and psychosocial conditions and formulates nursing diagnoses through observations and information from the client and others. The RN collaborates with the client to create care plans that ensure safety, comfort, hygiene, and disease prevention. The RN performs essential nursing skills and provides education to clients and families on health needs. The RN evaluates care effectiveness by observing client conditions and modifying care plans as needed. The RN demonstrates a current working knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and medications. The RN delegates tasks appropriately based on legal scopes of practice and supervises nursing care given by the care team. The RN acts as the client’s advocate to improve healthcare and facilitates informed decision-making. The RN provides culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care within legal standards of practice. The RN coordinates patient care activities with nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals. The RN utilizes effective communication skills to ensure safe patient handoffs and documents nursing care per policies. The RN uses information systems to improve efficiency and productivity. The RN is accountable for meeting unit and organizational patient satisfaction goals. The RN contributes to positive patient care experiences through interactions with patients and families. The RN assists in resolving complaints and investigates issues as needed. The RN performs all physical duties required by the position, which includes lifting, bending, and standing. The RN is expected to complete annual organizational requirements for employment.
