Software Engineer Associate

Job Summary Join Sure Secure's EED-3 (EOSDIS Evolution and Development) team supporting NASA's mission to provide global access to Earth science data. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Cumulus team, you'll contribute to building a world-class operations dashboard that empowers Data Managers and System Operators to effectively operate the Cumulus framework, ensure continuous system operations, and maintain data integrity without compromise or risk. You'll develop innovative tools that enable scientists and students to discover, transform, and enhance Earth science data quality for solving environmental and socio-economic challenges. Cumulus is an AWS-hosted global data archive for Earth science records. Our established, high-performing agile team operates within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology. Roles and Responsibilities The candidate will work in a fast-paced Agile development environment performing operations, design, development, and testing for the NASA Common Metadata Repository (CMR). As a member of the EED-3 team, the software developer will build and support innovative tools allowing scientists and students alike to discover, transform, update, and improve the quality of earth science data in the pursuit of solving a wide range of environmental and socio-economic issues, including supporting the deployment of product updates, identifying production issues, and constructing scalable architecture. Responsibilities include: Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle from user story generation, through design, development, automated testing and operational support Develop new feature ideas to meet the ever-evolving needs of our end‑users Continually help the team grow by sharing new ideas and industry best practices Suggest improvements to processes and tools to help the team be more efficient Required Education and Experience Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Clojure, Node.JS Demonstrable knowledge of git In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, or Google Cloud, including networking, serverless services such as Lambda, Queues, and Topics Good understanding of caching services such as Redis Ability to work with containerization and orchestration tools Strong problem‑solving, technical, and leadership skills, the ability to take initiative and proactively debug complex issues Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams Desired/Preferred Skills Knowledge of GraphQL, ElasticSearch, or other Lucene-based search products Knowledge of AWS CloudWatch Experience using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology Experience with full life‑cycle software design and development experience on large/complex n‑tier client/server applications AWS Solutions Architect or AWS Developer certifications Required Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree in a technical major such as Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field 3 years of software development experience Sure Secure Solutions is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, including Vets and Disabled.
