Position Summary:

The Pharmacy Intern under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, Operations and Revenue Cycle and pharmacy leadership in accordance with established policies and procedures, prepares, dispenses, and refills medications to provide the safest and highest quality care for our patients.

Under direct supervision:

• Fills unit dose labels, floor stock requests, Team A kits and Pyxis machines utilizing pharmacy automation systems in an accurate and efficient manner
• Follows all pertinent regulations and procedures and maintains accurate records to fill controlled substance orders within the safe and notifies pharmacists of any expired controls to be destroyed.
• Prepacks unit dose medications utilizing syringes and solid and liquid packaging equipment in an accurate, neat and efficient manner.
• Facilitates the delivery of completed and verified medications to patient areas
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize and establish priorities on a daily basis to ensure all required tasks are completed.
• Attends departmental meetings when available, reads meeting minutes, emails, and the communication book to stay updated on workflows, procedures, and pertinent information for the department.
• Other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Registered pharmacy intern in good standing with the state of Connecticut,
• Currently enrolled in an accredited PharmD. degree program
• Willingness to work as part of a team
• Strong commitment to working with patients and staff from a wide range of ethnic, economic, cultural and social backgrounds
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality
