Role Description

This is a full-time onsite role for a Construction Manager specializing in Roadway Construction based in Dixon, IL. The Construction Manager will monitor the progress of assigned projects to ensure the work accomplished conforms to the specifications, plans, and policies, and acts as the main source of communication between the local agency and the IDOT District Two Construction Engineer. Accountabilities ensure complete and accurate documentation to facilitate timely acceptance and finalizations of projects, timely responses to inquiries, complaints, requests, and follow-up action. The Construction Manager must maintain a positive working relationship with city and county officials, along with providing assistance and guidance during the construction of FAS and FAUS projects. Typical problems to be encountered by the Construction Manager would be both technical and managerial in nature. These include the validity of time extensions and change orders requests;
determining the applicability of design features and standard specifications to particular problems encountered on a project;
and motivating local agencies to effectively maintain a high quality of construction inspection.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience.
• Must have an IL PE license.
• Must have a current IDOT Construction Documentation certificate.
• Construction & Materials Management System (CMMS) experience is preferred.
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience with roadway, bridges, or infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations in the construction and transportation sectors.
