Commodity Buyer

Responsibilities Develop a qualified low cost supply base to support current and anticipated automotive program sourcing requirements. Develop rationale and provide support for supplier selection. Participate in or lead team in strategy development, cost savings efforts, minority business strategy, and associated reporting. Support Launch team through Supplier Selection, Statement of Work Negotiation, and Make vs Buy analysis. Support Production team when quality issues arise with components from supply base. Coordinate volume discount & planned productivity discounts with supply base. Other duties as assigned. Supervisor Responsibilities Refer to Organizational Chart. Education &/or Experience: BA in Business with emphasis in Supply Chain Management, or Purchasing or equivalent; and four to six years purchasing, manufacturing, engineering related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three to five years of strong technical experience with Automotive business. Mathematical Skills: Basic college level math. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Software. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to assess reasonableness of the analysis performed. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Employee may be required to travel. The employee will be in a shared office (cubicle) environment. There may be occasions where the employee will have tasks to perform in a Laboratory environment and a Manufacturing environment, where Personal Protective Equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses and Safety Shoes are required.
