Job Description Job Description 2nd Shift Machinist EMPLOYER: Waltz Brothers, Inc. DEPARTMENT: General Operator REPORTS TO: James Waltz EFFECTIVE DATE: 05/05/2026 SUMMARY: This position is responsible for running and inspecting complex components for preset operations. Operator must be proficient in blueprint reading, inspection methodologies, and have some manufacturing experience. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Utilizes various types of manual, numerically controlled, and computerized machine shop equipment to perform machining operations on all types of materials. * Works from and in accordance with specifications and design criteria including but not limited to verbal instructions, drawings, and blueprints; performs standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, speeds, and feeds of machining. * Uses a wide variety of precision measuring instruments; maintains accurate dimensional tolerances based upon drawings. * Operates a variety of machines including but not limited to lathes, mills, and precision grinders to perform multiple machining operations and ensure the proper utilization of equipment and material. * Adjusts machine tooling and machine offsets as required; checks each component for accuracy after adjustment. * Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of industry, machinery, and techniques. * Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of all applicable safety regulations and considerations. * Provides all required reports and/or correspondence. * Performs other related duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Computer skills required: * Manufacturing Software; * Spreadsheet Software (Excel); * Word Processing Software (Word); * Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); * Other skills required : * Knowledge of proper use of measuring tools/gauges and cutting tools. * Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail. * Great verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to use precision tools (e.g. micrometers) to take accurate measurements. * Ability to read blueprints. * Mathematical skills and analytical abilities. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Continually required to stand. * Frequently required to walk. * Occasionally required to sit. * Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity. * While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. * The employee must * occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include: * Near Vision - Snellen 14/18, (20/25), Jaeger 1 at not less than 12 inches. * Must be able to distinguish and differentiate between colors used during the product acceptance or certification process.
