Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights, Every Other Weekend or up to 3 weekends per month if unit is busy Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 3 years of recent ICU experience required License: Active Nursing License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Recent ICU experience including neuro or cardiovascular is required. UNA Dysrhythmia Exam must be completed 24-48 hours prior to acceptance. Pass/fail simulation lab on first day of orientation. Experience in a Level 1 trauma center is preferred. Description: This position requires a full 3 years of recent ICU experience to be considered. No exceptions will be made. Experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular care. Common diagnoses include trauma patients, strokes, COVID-19, sepsis, and ARDS. RNs are responsible for titrating drips including propofol, fentanyl, and other medications. There are no nurse aids on the unit; only sitters and health unit secretaries are utilized. An intensivist is on-site 24/7. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. RNs are required to interpret their own telemetry strips, with GE monitors being used. Self-scheduling is allowed, but management may need to balance shifts based on unit needs. Weekends require three shifts within a four-week schedule. Holidays may allow one off during an assignment. No additional call or standby shifts are required. Floating may be necessary to other units as needed. There will be skills validation for trauma and specialty devices as needed. Expected to float between multiple ICUs. Navy scrub color is required. Charting system is Cerner. This role involves working with complex patient cases and necessitates strong clinical skills and teamwork.
