Banquet Captain (Part Time)

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for a Part-Time Banquet Captain (20-25 hours per week) at the Oklahoma City Convention Center. The Banquet Captain will supervise and coordinate banquet server activities to ensure timely food service and maintain the highest level of guest satisfaction. Regular attendance in accordance with Legends Global policies is essential. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English. Make quick and accurate decisions. Consult with the Banquet Manager regarding serving arrangements and staff or equipment requirements. Supervise banquet servers. Meet with the Chef on Duty at the start of each shift to review banquet event orders for menu, timing, special requests, and the Chef's expectations. Meet with the client prior to start of the event to review menu and itinerary. Anticipate customer needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, regardless of traffic or timing. Lead, motivate servers, resolve conflicts, and exceed guest expectations. Conduct lineup with staff at the start of each shift. Inspect uniforms, review menus and itineraries, and provide a brief training topic. Prepare Captain's reports detailing the event and comments from the host (on-site contact). Promote and maintain the highest level of customer service to all guests. Determine when a guest should not be served additional alcoholic beverages in accordance with Legends Global policies. Inspect function space before the event to ensure cleanliness, organization, and ambiance. Observe food service to ensure proper garnish and arrangement. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with organizational and departmental policies and applicable laws. Maintain consumption sheets. Ensure front-and-back-of-house areas are clean and orderly. Ensure all closing duties for staff are completed before staff sign-out. Provide feedback on staff performance to the manager and report disciplinary issues to management; participate in employee counseling. Foster a cooperative work climate to maximize productivity and staff morale. Complete all paperwork and closing duties according to departmental standards. Review assignment status and any follow-up action with the Banquet Manager and/or incoming supervisor. Notify the manager when items such as lemons, creamers, coffee, etc., run low. Perform any other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws. Train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. One year of experience as a banquet server or banquet captain. Food Handlers' Certificate and Alcohol Awareness Certificate preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines. Work under minimal supervision. Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business hours as needed. Professional attitude and appearance. Some travel required. Daily lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. for up to 10 minutes at a time. Perform repetitive eye/hand coordination tasks. Maintain balance and good manual dexterity; constant reaching, standing, walking, and stooping. Basic computer skills. Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to move around the facility; stand for long hours during events; talk and hear.
