Controller (Political Consultant)

Controller | Political Consulting Firm | Washington, D.C. A political consulting firm is seeking a Controller to take ownership of accounting, compliance, and financial operations while helping modernize internal systems for long-term growth. Base pay range : $85,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr What You’ll Do Learn company operations before assuming full controller responsibilities Own day-to-day accounting, close process, and financial reporting Manage tax compliance (sales, privilege, and commercial activity taxes) Oversee FEC compliance, filings, and political finance reporting Handle HR functions including payroll, benefits, and compliance Redesign financial and operational processes for scalability Partner with leadership on forecasting and strategic decisions What We’re Looking For Strong accounting foundation; public accounting experience preferred CPA preferred but not required for exceptional candidates Operations-minded professional comfortable wearing multiple hats Proven ability to build, improve, and redesign internal processes Experience with multi-state and political tax considerations Based in or willing to work in Washington, D.C.
