Special Education Teacher - Middletown, Delaware

Job Description

Make a real difference in young learners’ lives by providing crucial support to kindergarten and first grade students in a specialized resource classroom environment. This full-time contract role runs from now through the end of the school year and is ideal for educators who are passionate about early childhood special education and thrive in small-group instructional settings.

Key Qualifications/Experience:

Valid Special Education Teacher certification
Experience working with Kindergarten and 1st grade students
Knowledge of B setting/resource room models
Ability to manage a caseload, including IEP development and progress monitoring
Strong communication skills for collaborating with parents, teachers, and related service providers
Organizational skills to track student goals, document accommodations, and maintain compliance
Flexibility and creativity to adapt lessons to individual learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

Provide targeted small-group instruction and accommodations for 4 students in a resource room (part-time pull-out support)
Develop, write, and implement IEPs, monitoring student progress and making adjustments as needed
Coordinate with classroom teachers and support staff to reinforce inclusion best practices
Manage additional casework as assigned, ensuring thorough documentation and communication
Support positive behavior strategies and create a nurturing, structured classroom environment
Engage in parent meetings and share student progress
Maintain compliance with all district special education guidelines and timelines
