It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!Description of WorkThe Social Worker serves as a key member of a multidisciplinary treatment team within the Division of Adult Correction. The role focuses on assessing the needs of offenders preparing for release, particularly those with serious mental illnesses or developmental disabilities. The Social Worker helps ensure continuity of care and supports public safety by connecting individuals with necessary treatment and services in the community.Job Duties include:Conduct assessments for post-release needs, including medical care, mental health treatment, and developmental disability services.Participate in treatment planning for individuals with severe mental illness.Develop community resource connections and referrals for aftercare services.Identify and address the needs of special populations.Provide assessments and recommendations for ADA-related referrals.Complete Medicaid applications for offenders referred by program managers.Work across multiple correctional facilities (ranging from minimum to close custody) as needed.Support stabilization of mental illnesses during incarceration and encourage continuation of treatment after release.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management PreferencesSalary Range $45,431 - $79,504The Posting Will Close At 11:59 P.M. Staff members work with people who are incarcerated, probationers, post-release supervisees, and parolees.
