Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital OR position supporting neurosurgery, orthopedics, general surgery, podiatry, and urology cases.

Hospital general surgery unit supporting neurosurgery, orthopedics, general surgery, podiatry, and urology cases

No cardiovascular cases

Caseload varies by specialty but typically no more than 4 cases per day

Swing shift schedule, Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Full-time, 13-week assignment

One call weekend per month required

Not currently expected to float, but potential to float to Lake Area facilities

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required

Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program required

2+ years of experience preferred in neurosurgery, orthopedics, general surgery, podiatry, and urology

BLS certification required

Certified Surgical Technologist credential or LVN/LPN license required (license required if applicable)

Proficiency scrubbing in 3 or more specialty areas highly preferred (e.g. transplants, open heart, urology, neurology, titanium rib, robotics)

Strong teamwork skills and ability to work autonomously

Additional Information

Prepare and care for pre-operative patients, including skin prep and positioning for surgery

Maintain aseptic technique and monitor for breaches in sterile protocol

Transport patients to and from the OR suite

Set up OR tables, instruments, and supplies based on case type using physician preference cards

Keep preference cards updated and complete

Identify and handle biological specimens appropriately

Maintain a safe environment through proper traffic control, dress code adherence, and sanitation practices

Hospital-laundered scrubs provided

Adapt care approach to meet population-specific and developmental needs of patients served

Returning CHRISTUS employees must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible for a travel assignment at any CHRISTUS facility

Hours per week: 40

Hours per shift: 8
