The RF and DSP engineering team develops embedded hardware and software for mission critical systems deployed worldwide, and this role sits within that team working alongside hardware, firmware, and systems engineers.ScheduleFull time, direct hire position based in Austin, TX. Travel is minimal.Compensation$90,000 to $130,000 per year, based on experience.What You'll DoAs an Embedded Software Engineer, you will write and enhance embedded software in C, troubleshoot complex firmware issues, and improve product reliability across a family of rugged, defense and aerospace grade embedded systems. You will develop automated test solutions to support product quality, and work closely with FPGA, hardware, and systems engineers to investigate technical problems spanning software and hardware. Responsibilities span the full product lifecycle, including new product development, product improvements, and sustaining engineering on fielded systems. This position offers direct exposure to embedded software, FPGA technologies, digital signal processing, hardware debugging, and automated test development.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience3+ years of embedded software development experience using C, writing efficient, reliable, and maintainable codeHands on experience debugging embedded systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and signal generatorsProven ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware interactions in embedded environmentsSolid understanding of embedded system architecture and how software interfaces with hardwareExperience developing embedded software for microcontroller or processor based systemsStrong debugging and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to solve complex technical problems independentlyExperience working across the full product lifecycle, including new product development, product improvements, and sustaining engineeringMust be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder (visa sponsorship is not available for this role)Preferred QualificationsExperience with Board Support Packages (BSPs) and low level device driver developmentEmbedded Linux or Yocto/PetaLinux development experienceUnderstanding of FPGA architecture and experience working alongside FPGA engineersExperience with AMD/Xilinx development environmentsPython scripting for automation or test developmentExperience with Git, continuous integration, and modern software development workflowsFamiliarity with TestStand, LabVIEW, Bash, Tcl, or ExpectAutomated test software or engineering validation test development experienceExperience interpreting PCB layouts and reviewing electrical schematicsExperience with RTOS based embedded systemsExposure to RF, DSP, data acquisition, or high speed digital systemsExperience in defense, aerospace, telecommunications, robotics, industrial automation, semiconductor equipment, or medical device industriesCustomer facing technical support experienceInterest in learning multiple product families and expanding into adjacent engineering disciplinesCompensation and BenefitsSalary range of $90,000 to $130,000 per year, plus annual performance incentivesMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) retirement plan with company contributionPaid time off and paid holidaysCareer development and technical training opportunitiesTo apply, submit your resume for consideration.
