Caregiver (Dementia Care )

We are seeking compassionate, reliable caregivers to provide attentive care for a client with dementia who is at risk for elopement (wandering) . The ideal candidate understands the importance of supervision, redirection, and maintaining a calm, structured environment.
Schedule Needs

Weekdays:

• 5:00 PM - 9:00 AM (overnight)
  May be split into two shifts:
  
  • 5:00 PM - 1:00 AM
  • 1:00 AM - 9:00 AM

Weekends (Saturday 9:00 AM - Monday 9:00 AM):
May be split into four 12-hour shifts:

• Saturday 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM
• Saturday 9:00 PM - Sunday 9:00 AM
• Sunday 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM
• Sunday 9:00 PM - Monday 9:00 AM

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous supervision to ensure client safety due to wandering/elopement risk
• Assist client with ambulation and mobility inside and outside the home (appointments, walks, etc.)
• Redirect and de-escalate confusion, agitation, or exit-seeking behaviors
• Prepare meals and assist with feeding as needed, following dietary guidelines
• Perform light housekeeping duties (laundry, dishes, tidying common areas)
• Shop for groceries or accompany client when appropriate
• Maintain a structured, calm environment to reduce confusion
• Communicate effectively with family members, nurses, and healthcare providers
• Observe and document changes in condition, behaviors, or mood
• Report unusual incidents immediately
• Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies

Requirements

• Dementia care experience strongly preferred
• Experience working with clients who are an elopement/wandering risk preferred
• Previous caregiver experience preferred but not required
• Patience, compassion, and a calm demeanor
• Strong redirection and de-escalation skills
• Willingness to follow care plans and safety protocols
• Knowledge of housekeeping and meal preparation with attention to dietary needs
• Excellent communication and time management skills
• Physical stamina to assist with mobility and overnight supervision
