Since restarting its Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) platform in 2018, Fannie Mae has invested over $5 billion in proprietary and multi-investor funds. As a valued contributor on our dynamic team, you will be responsible for underwriting and closing investments through LIHTC proprietary funds.THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKEThe LIHTC Underwriter, Lead Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:Work with our syndicator partners to underwrite and close potential affordable multifamily proprietary investments utilizing low-income housing tax creditsMaintain overall responsibility for the investment review and approval process of proprietary investments including collaboration with internal and external stakeholdersIdentify and assess the risk profile of equity investments to ensure risk is mitigated and objectives are met within appropriate credit, investment and regulatory guidelinesCoordinate with internal and external teams to develop key milestones to achieve a seamless executionWork with management to recommend business solutions based on analysis of internal and market dataAssist the Senior Director, Director, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President in managing and updating processes related to internal stakeholders such as multifamily legal, risk, operations, finance, accounting and auditActively participate in special project teams as neededTravel to visit prospective investments and marketsMinimum Required Experience4 years of LIHTC Equity experience with a track record underwriting and closing LIHTC proprietary investments while maintaining product and credit qualityDemonstrated experience in modeling and structuring LIHTC proprietary investments, managing critical projects and tight timelinesSkilled in managing multiple and competing priorities to help the Senior Director and DirectorHighly motivated self-starter with good attention to detailA team player with excellent interpersonal skills who is energized by working in a collaborative, dynamic and evolving team environmentStrong analytical, verbal, written and presentation communication skillsAbility to influence through negotiating, persuading others, facilitating meetings, and resolving conflictAbility to successfully manage and engage stakeholders, customers, and vendors and build relationship networksExperience gathering accurate information to explain concepts and answer critical questionsDemonstrates curiosity and adaptability by learning and responsibly applying new techniques, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how we workAbility to travel overnight 25% of the timeDesired ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalentExperience with equity or debt portfolio management software/systems such as MRI, Salesforce, and YardiAbility to navigate multiple systems, manage data and create reportsDemonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and respectfully with colleagues across diverse functional areas to achieve shared goalsMultifamily Customer Engagement - Customer and Partner Management - Lead Associate#LI-NL1 - HybridQualificationsEducation: Bachelor's Level Degree (Required)The future is what you make it to be.
