Chief Of Staff I

Reporting to a Chief Talent Officer at IDEA Public Schools, the Chief of Staff I will assist in providing leadership and oversight for the Talent Team's day-to-day functions and staff. This Chief of Staff I will be part advisor, part gatekeeper, part problem solver, and part all-round strategic partner to develop strategy to meet organization goals and advance our mission. The role will have both internal- and external-facing responsibilities, ranging from human capital development to project management. The Chief of Staff I lives in the future and focuses on long-term planning to ensure growth of the organization and success of IDEA's and the Talent Team's mission and vision.

The ideal candidate will handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously, mixing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands. He/she must also have the demonstrated ability to deal with highly confidential information and act as a liaison between Chief Officers and other constituencies, both internal and external. He/she must exhibit the skills to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships, and the capability to interact within all levels of IDEA Public Schools.

Location: This is a full-time remote position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate. Travel Expectations: Travel up to 25% at the busiest times of the year

Essential Duties:

• Leads the day to day and strategic operations of the Talent Team inclusive of annual strategic planning, cross-collaborative work stream planning, and ongoing team operating mechanisms.
• Drives execution against Talent Team strategic priorities by monitoring progress, ensuring accountability for key commitments and deliverables, and proactively identifying and addressing barriers to success.
• Acts as strategic thought partner, confidant, and sounding board related to their respective Chief Officer's area of work.
• Vision-aligned proxy representing the Chief Talent Officer point of view, perspective, and decision guidance.
• Coordinates and interacts with senior leaders and executives, external affiliate leadership, and other external partners on a diverse range of strategic, operational, and organizational matters.
• Directs, plans, and implements policies and objectives of the organization or business in accordance with the Chief direction, charter, and board of directors.
• Prepares and/or contributes with the preparation of reports, proposals, briefing, presentation, and responses on institutional and strategic issues.
• Provides management support resulting in the seamless functioning and management of priorities and/or special projects.
• Anticipates problems and are sensitive to issues that require diplomacy.
• Functions as extra eyes and ears by helping to navigate cross-functionally and across geographies.
• Manage a Project Manager or Executive Assistant to effectively support and coordinate the CTO's email, calendar, travel, and expenses.
• Draft key communications, correspondence, and presentations on behalf of the Chief Talent Officer.
• Protect the Chief Talent Officer's calendar and time allocation to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency by providing ample time to reflect on key issues and future opportunities, connect with key constituents, motivate, manage the Talent Team, and achieve goals.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Talent Team representative on cross-functional projects, initiatives, and assignments as needed.
• Review and revise data visualization and reporting across Talent Team to ensure our data analysis provides clear and compelling insights that build confidence in our recommendations and influence decision-makers.
• Assist with problem-solving data inaccuracies or inconsistencies to ensure highest levels of data integrity and accuracy

Required experience :

• Education: Bachelor's Degree required (Master's Degree Preferred).
• Minimum experience: A minimum 8 years of experience or a combination of 8 years of experience in one or more of the following: Education, Human Capital Management, Organizational Administration or Development, Information Technology, Finance & Accounting. Education.
• Must have demonstrated experience in strategy, analysis, project management, and interacting/influencing senior leaders.
• High level of proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Unilateral leadership skills
• Proven experience translating data and metrics to action
• Demonstrable experience managing high-profile projects
• Robust written and verbal communication portfolio
• Emotional intelligence

Preferred experience:

• A minimum 10 years of experience or a combination of 10 years of experience in one or more of the following: Education, Human Capital Management, Organizational Administration or Development, Information Technology, Finance & Accounting.
• Certifications: PMP preferred, but not required

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel as needed, including air travel and overnight stays.
• Ability to work in office and school environments, including navigating stairs and large campuses.
• Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and attending meetings.
• Ability to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and presentation tools.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and in group settings across various environments.

Compensation & Benefits :

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $108,100 and $128,600, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
