Location: Leavenworth USD 453 – Earl Lawson Early Education Center, Leavenworth, Kansas Job ID: 5487773 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Re-Posted: Apr 13, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Immediately Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $18.00 per hour (Starting Rate), $19.25 per hour (Full-Time) Parents As Teachers Educator Job Description Purpose: To provide personal instruction, demonstrate appropriate education activities, and deliver research‑based printed material to parents regarding child development and related issues. To conduct child development screenings of vision, hearing, language, motor, hand‑eye coordination, health and physical development for prenatal to age five. Reports To: Parents as Teachers Program Coordinator Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or related field of study, preferred. Demonstrated ability to work with adults and their young children. Alternate qualifications acceptable as determined by the board. Previous experience and proven success in working with at‑risk populations. Valid driver’s license and vehicle. Essential Job Functions Successfully complete the 0‑36 month Parents as Teachers’ training and additional training required by the grant. Provide outreach to families within the school district. Conduct home visits, scheduling flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Collect and input all required data for enrolled families and children (prenatal to 3 years). Work with community agencies to recruit families within district boundaries. Provide periodic monitoring and screening to ensure children do not enter age three with undetected health or developmental concerns. Attend required meetings, staff development, and reflective supervision (up to two times monthly). Apply proven methods to retain families in home‑visiting services. Conduct group connections as assigned. Flexible hours, willingness to work evenings and weekends. Perform additional responsibilities as assigned. Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods. Occasional stooping, bending, lifting, and reaching. Travel required. Work in noisy and crowded environments. Regular attendance and physical presence required. General Responsibilities Implement the curriculum from the National Parents As Teachers Center and local district enhancements. Serve up to 30 families (part‑time) or 45 families (full‑time). Coordinate services with community programs, recommend further screenings, evaluations, etc. Support and enhance play groups, parent group connections, parent‑child field trips, community events (health fairs, parent universities, speaking engagements). Complete and submit program evaluation, financial reports, documentation of home visits, attendance records, screening summaries, and other requested reports. Maintain parent resource room and assist in planning and producing program newsletter. Review and evaluate results of annual parent surveys and other metrics. Recruit volunteer families for the program. Attain required certifications as a parent educator and developmental screening trainer. Adhere to all district health and safety policies. Perform other duties consistent with general requirements. Evaluation Performance evaluated per Board of Education policy. Conduct Self‑Assessment for core competencies at program commencement and year‑end. Set 2‑3 competency‑based job goals with PAT Coordinator guidance. Supervisory evaluation completed annually by PAT supervisor using the adopted classified evaluation form.
