Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist with pediatric experience, specializing in neuro and ortho service lines, for a 13-week pediatric OR assignment

Details

• Pediatric general OR setting within a teaching hospital
• Day shift schedule (5x8 hours), 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with varying start times possible
• May rotate or float per unit needs, including between NICU, PICU, and CICU across all ages
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with one holiday guaranteed

Requirements

• Minimum of 2-3 years of Surgical Tech experience required
• Pediatric surgical tech experience required with strong focus on neuro and ortho service lines
• Must score 3s and 4s on skills checklist for neuro and ortho procedures
• BLS certification required
• Active state license required at time of submission, if applicable
• Compact or state license required for MD/VA
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Proficiency in aseptic technique, instrument processing, PPE/isolation precautions, sterilization/disinfection, and Universal Protocol time-out procedures

Additional Information

• Assist with pediatric neurosurgical procedures including craniotomy, VP shunt insertion, and lumbar fusion
• Assist with pediatric orthopedic procedures including ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, closed/open fracture reduction, laminectomy/discectomy, and spinal fusion
• Support trauma cases including burns, gunshot/stab wounds, and multiple injuries from MVAs
• Complete pre-start modules prior to orientation, within the first week of the assignment
• Missed shifts due to call-outs must be made up
• Maximum RTO of one week, with full-week RTO requiring made-up shifts or assignment extension; no RTO permitted after initial offer
• Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
• Previous Children's National employees must have been separated for at least one year to be eligible for return
• First-time travelers not specified as eligible for this position
