Lab Scientist

Pay: $65.00–$69.00/hour Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Location: Hazelwood, MO (Onsite) Duration: 6+ Month Contract

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Lab Scientist to support analytical chemistry testing and laboratory operations in a fast-paced, regulated environment. This role is responsible for performing analytical testing, maintaining laboratory instrumentation, managing controlled documentation, and supporting day-to-day lab operations while ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and data integrity standards.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, strong technical writing skills, and a solid understanding of GMP and laboratory documentation practices.

Responsibilities

Analytical Laboratory

• Perform analytical testing using HPLC, LC-MS, GC, spectroscopy, and Karl Fischer titration.
• Support analytical method development, validation, and routine sample testing.
• Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure laboratory instruments are properly maintained and operating efficiently.

Documentation & Quality Systems

• Draft, review, revise, and maintain controlled documents, including: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Analytical methods, Work instructions, Forms, Laboratory records.
• Complete documentation accurately and in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage laboratory record filing, retention, storage, and archival activities.

Laboratory Operations

• Coordinate laboratory activities to support testing schedules and project timelines.
• Maintain laboratory organization and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Promote a safe, clean, and compliant laboratory environment.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 3–5 years of analytical laboratory experience.
• Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, LC-MS, GC, Spectroscopy, Karl Fischer titration.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory documentation and controlled document management.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred

• Master's or other graduate degree in a scientific discipline.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated laboratory environments.
• Advanced experience with LC-MS instrumentation.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and data integrity requirements.
• Experience authoring SOPs and maintaining quality documentation.

Working Conditions

• Onsite laboratory position in Hazelwood, MO.
• Regular handling of laboratory chemicals, reagents, and analytical instrumentation.
• Ability to stand and perform laboratory work for extended periods throughout the day.
